On line food authentication by visual identification of DNA marker - AN0660

1.To develop ARMS or MS PCR reactions able to discriminate sheep, goat, bovine and other genomes. 2.To develop a two-dimensional array (chip, dipstick, or strip) on which a minimum of threee immobilised primers will be attached, representing a kind of 'traffic-light' display: on thermal cycling, in the presence of separate or combined DNA purified from the three species, appropriate spots will light up after antibody visualisation. 3.To widen the range of microsatellite markers to encompass analysis of not only a range of likely meat animal genomes, but also plant-derived foodstuffs; and to introduce an element of quantitation into the procedure, for use in on-line food analysis.
