`Techniques for cultivation of dover sole (REPLACED BY MF0414,4/93)` - FC0102

R&D Summary Objectives:- Develop procedures for the production of juvenile sole and assess their viability in the wild. Conduct genetic sterilisation experiments and assess the feasibility and advantages of producing sterile fish for release in the sea. Key customer purpose:- Provide at low cost an awareness of the latest techniques and possibilities for culture of marine finfish, enabling MAFF to plan and advise on future fish cultivation matters, and respond on policy issues.
1.To develop procedures for the production of juvenile sole (to be used for tagging and experimental purposes within the Directorate). 2.To identify criteria for assessing their fitness for survival in a natural environment. 3.To assess the applicability to the sole of genetic sterilisation techniques.
