Social Science Research Fellowship on the natural environment and human health - BE0109

Description
This funding is for a Social Science Fellowship to work on links between the natural environment and human health. The current proposal is for a Fellowship based at the European Centre for Environment and Human Health (ECEHH), University of Exeter Medical School (lead is Prof Michael Depledge), although other options are possible.
One of the three strategic evidence priorities in Defra’s new Evidence Strategy is ‘Natural resources managed sustainably and equitably to promote economic growth, public health and healthy ecosystems’.
The Fellowship will specifically address the issue of how to incorporate the non-monetary value of ecosystems to health in policy and decision-making at a variety of spatial scales, including application of participatory and deliberative techniques developed as part of the NEAFO. The Fellowship will also be relevant to Defra’s current work on evaluation of complex systems and the work of the Natural Capital Committee.
