Development of a cost-effective method for monitoring the effectiveness of mitigation for bats crossing linear transport infrastructure - WC1060
|
Description
The aim of this project is to provide a systematic and standardised methodology for assessing the impact of road and rail construction on bat populations. The project contributes to the commitment of government and transport agencies towards creating coherent and resilient ecological networks identified in the Natural Environment White Paper (NEWP): It also contributes to the Habitats Directive Implementation Review, to improve evidence based decision making; increase data availability, and to review the effectiveness of mitigation measures for species licences through evaluating post-licence monitoring data.
The key output will be a report on the survey and monitoring methodology which can be used by country agencies, the Highways Agency and Network Rail as appropriate. The Highways Agency is represented on the Steering Group.
