Quantifying the links between health effects and environmental noise related hypertension. - NO0232

Description
Previous research by others established a quantifiable link between exposure to environmental noise and hypertension. However, hypertension can lead to several health consequences each of which have different costs associated with them. This research looked at evidence regarding the health consequences from hypertension and using the data from the previous research developed a methodology for monetizing the costs of exposure to environmental noise that results in hypertension. Some values are provided. The Intergovernmental Group on Costs and Benefits (IGCB) will be reviewing this approach and determining the extent to which in can be formally adopted into the policy impact assessment process.
