Investigations of endocrine disruption in UK freshwater gastropod molluscs - CB01053

This project aims to comlement ongoing endocrine disruption studies by assessing the consequences of exposure of a variety of gastropod molluscs to endocrine disrupting chemicals known to be present in treated sewage effluents. These experiments will show if these chemicals might pose a threat to freshwater molluscs and if so, how widespread the effects seen are likely to be. In parallel with these studies, the programe will also explore the suitability of various gastropod molluscs species as test organisms for assessing the effects of endocrine disruptors in aquatic organisms.
